The Handzame Classic, which is part of the "Napoleon Games Cup", took place today in the region West Flanders. 192,7 relatively flat kilometers from Bredere to Kortemark waited for the peloton.
From drop of the flag many riders tried to form a breakaway group. During the whole race, small groups pulled away, but no group was able to build an ample gap to the peloton.
As the race hit crosswinds the peloton picked up the pace to bring the leaders back. The challenging wind conditions coupled with the increase in pace caused four distinct echelons. The front chase group were strong in numbers as its 50 riders bridged across to the 10 breakaway riders. As the two groups rejoined, more riders went on the attack. The race came down to a bunch sprint and Kasper rolled in 28th on the day.
Our next race is the Tour of Normandie, starting this coming monday 20th March.
