16km Time Trial
The individual Time Trial began in the County of Tendring this morning and it would be difficult to negotiate the the circuit.
As the riders set off at their designated time-slots, Clacton-on-Sea lived up to it's reputation as the rekmowned sunshine spot. The coastal town greeted the riders with the warmest temperatures of the week so far. Unfortunately it wasn't to last and by the time the stage started, the sky had clouded over and the wind was strong.
The first An Post CRC rider to descend the start ramp was Jake Scott at 12:15. He found the 16km route very demanding, with difficult bends to negotiate and an extremely strong head wind for the latter half of the route.
Our best placed rider was Mark Stewart with an impressive 20:32 ride to finish 54th on the stage.
The stage was not without its share of drama and the time gaps were close for the top ten but Lars Boom of Lotto NL Jumbo was victorious.
Jake remains in the Skoda King of the Mountains jersey for another day and the fight continues to retain it. 5 down, 3 to go!
